Teacher Rec: Environmental Studies Summer Youth Institute

The Environmental Studies Summer Youth Institute at Hobart and William Smith Colleges is a two-week interdisciplinary residential program and 4 semester-hour course for high-school students. It is designed to explore the scientific, social, economic, and political perspectives of environmental issues. The atmosphere will be rigorous, yet cooperative, and participants will be expected to do both independent and collaborative college-level work under the direction of Hobart and William Smith faculty members.

While there is a significant scientific component to the curriculum, participants also will do considerable work in other areas. We will be learning together, so we welcome students with a wide range of interests and preparation.

Your remarks and recommendation concerning this student will be of great assistance in our evaluation of his or her application to the program.
